The deceased had reached the age of 71 years, 11 months and 10 days.

She was a sincere Christian through her whole life. Whenever she had an opportunity to do work of mercy she was willing. Many a time when she stood at the bedside of a dying person and comforted them.

She was a member of the Lutheran Ladies Aid society at National, Iowa. She has been a devout helpmate. she always stood faithfully at her husbands side. It is her husband who lived with her 48 years that misses her most.

Her husband and two sisters, Mrs. John Lenth of Monona, and Mrs. Witt, and many nieces and nephews and friends mourned at the grave.

Funeral services were held in the church at Giard Friday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock. Two ministers were officiating, the Lutheran minister from Garnavillo took charge of the services in the house and cemetery. He preached a service in German in the house. His text was: John 11:25-26. "I am the Resurrection and The Life." The Methodist minister from Giard had charge of the services in the church. He preached a sermon in the English language. His text was taken from the 90 Psalm, versus 10 and 15.

The pallbearers were the deceased sister's sons. Dear mourners: May the Lord comfort you in your bereavement. "O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will turn thy mourning into joy." (Is. 54:11) "Though the mountains depart, and the hills be removed, yet my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord thy Redeemer." (Is. 54:10-17.)
