Elkader Register Thur., 08 Mar. 1923.
Mrs. Adam Berg passes away at her home in Elkader on Friday, March 2, 1923, at the age of 45 years, 10 months and 1 day.
Minnie Mae Dinges was born May 1, 1877, at Osterdock, Iowa, as the daughter of William and Sarah Dinges. At the age of 21 years, on September 14, 1898, she was united in marriage with Adam Berg, at Elkader, Iowa.
Five children were born to this union, William, of New Hampton, Iowa, Walter, John, Earl and Roy, who are still home.
A few years previous to her marriage she came to Elkader, and this has been her home ever since.
Being of a strong constitution she was always able to attend to the many household duties of a faithful wife and mother.
About 10 days ago she was stricken with pneumonia. Everything that loving care and medical skill could do was done to prolong, if possible, the life of one who was yet very much needed in the home. At times it seemed as if she yet would be spared, when of a sudden her condition again became alarming, and she passed away on Friday afternoon. It was indeed a sad shock to the family and our community.
The departure of the wife and mother is mourned by the husband, Adam Berg, and the five sons, already mentioned. She also leaves one brother, Samuel Dinges, of Deer Park, Wash., and four sisters, Mrs. Fred Moser and Mrs. P. L. Pierce, of Osterdock, Iowa, Mrs. Emma Wagner of Elkader, and Mrs. H. Radloff of Volga City.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, at 1:30 at the house and at 2:00 o'clock at the Evangelical church, conducted by Rev. C. H. Franke. Interment in the East Side Cemetery. The family have the sympathy of all.
