Elkader Register, Thur., 25 Jan. 1923.

Aurelia Katherine Munger was born in Conneutville, Pa., on the 23rd day of September, 1853, and passed away Monday, January 15th at the age of 69 years, 3 months and 23 days.

In April, 1866, she came with her parents, the late Jane Glazier and Milo Eanous Munger and brothers and sisters to Clayton County.

On the 22nd day of January, 1873, she was united in marriage to Jerry Cassidy of Elkader, Iowa, and located on a farm near Clayton Center. They later moved to Elkader which has since been their home. Had Mrs. Cassidy lived one week longer they would have celebrated their golden wedding and had planned a reunion.

To this union were born 16 children, 5 of whom preceded their mother to the great beyond. Those that survive are the husband, and 11 children; Myrtle Attwood, Mae Oertli, Katherine Sampson, of Huron, S.D., Fred V. and James G., of Aberdeen, S.D., Millard Lenher, of Sebeka, Minn., Margaret Allen, Peoria, Illinois, Lenora Bentley, Dupree, S.D., Blanche Bonnar, Vanport, Pa., George G. and Miss Elsie of Elkader, besides 22 grandchildren, 2 sisters and 2 brothers, Mrs. Mary Gifford, Austin, Minn., Mrs. Fred White, Arlington, Iowa, S. R. Munger, Oelwein, Iowa, and M. E. Munger, Elkader.

She had been a patient sufferer since Thanksgiving Day, four years ago, when she suffered a stroke. Her second stroke occurred May, 1922, from which time she was partly helpless and never regained her speech. During this time death entered their home twice, A son, Grover, died with influenza in March, 1919, and Jerry of heart trouble, 1921.

She was a devoted wife and mother, a lover of her home, always ready to help those in need, a kind neighbor and a true friend.

The floral offerings mute, but eloquent expressions of love, showed the high esteem with which she was held by those who knew her.

All the children, except Mae Oertli, who is seriously ill, her brothers and sisters and many relatives and friends from Elkader and neighboring towns were present at the funeral which was held from the home Friday afternoon. She was laid to rest in the East Side cemetery.

We miss thee from our home, dear
mother
We miss thee from thy place,
A shadow o'er our life is cast.
We miss the sunshine of thy face
We miss thy kind and willing hand.
Thy fond and Earnest care,
Our home is dark without thee
We miss thee everywhere.
