Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 19 Dec. 1918. Volga column.

Lew Rinkert who came home from Cassville sick with the flu passed away Monday Dec. 9th, after a week's illness pneumonia set in on Saturday.

He was born July 8, 1887, in Highland township, and grew to manhood in and around Volga. He graduated from the Volga High School in 1906. He has always lived at home, he was of a very happy disposition, nearly always had a smile, and was a friend to everybody. He will be sadly missed especially so in the home.

Funeral services were held at the Catholic church, Rev. Father Hetherington officiating. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved family.
