The burial of Joe Lestina occurred Wednesday afternoon. With his passing there goes from among us one who saw his duty clearly and who did what was required unflinchingly. His energetic and enterprizing methods and genial manner had won for him much admiration from all those with whom he came in contact. Taken in the prime of life he leaves a wife and children to whom he was most truly devoted and who have the deep sympathy of many, many friends.

Joseph Lestina, Jr., was born on September 16, 1883, in Giard township, Clayton county, Iowa. His boyhood was spent on the farm and attending public schools.
On January 23, 1903, he was married to Miss Mary Schroeder. After a year's residence in Dubuque, they settled on the farm which has since been their home.
Mrs. Lestina and three children went to Milwaukee a few weeks ago to visit and while there contracted influenza. Mr. Lestina, upon going for them to bring them back home, was stricken and a heart weakness developed which made it impossible for him to rally when pneumonia followed. He passed away at his home Monday morning, October 21st, 1918, at the age of 35 years and 34 days.
He lived as a man with a fixed purpose, intensely devoted to the best interests of his family. Steadfast and staunch in all his undertakings, resolute and unswerving in his ambition for right, living the happiest when bringing joy to others.
Those who mourn his passing are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lestina, Sr., and his wife Mary Lestina and four children, Edna aged 13, Lorine aged 10, Kenneth aged 5, and Kirmeth aged 3. Three sisters remain also: Mrs. Kubesh, Mrs. frank Maha, and Mrs. Joe Opat and one brother Frank.
Owing to quarantine restrictions a funeral service was held near the home and a burial service in the Monona cemetery, Rev. Daugs officiating.
