John Hammond died at the county home a few days ago and was brought here for burial.

John Hammond was born in the state of New York, September 2, 1833, and died on September 23, 1918, aged 87 years and two days. He spent the fore part of his life there.
He came to Iowa over thirty years ago and has made his home here since. He was as one time engaged in the oil business and was in fairly good financial circumstances. In late years he has been employed in fishing. He was later taken to the County Home to be cared for and died there.
He was honest, genial and had many friends here. The funeral was conducted by Rev. D. C. Perry last week Wednesday and the burial was in the local cemetery.
