Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 26 Sept. 1918. Volga column.
Florence Byrl Probert, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oaklin Probert, was born in Highland township, Sept 21, 1909, and "fell to sleep" Sept. 15, 1918, aged 8 years, 11 months and 25 days.
"Little Florence" had been a frail and delicate child from her birth with little hope of blossoming into womanhood. But in spite of the handicap of physical weakness she was a bright scholar, easily making her grades in the public school and endearing herself to all by her winning ways.
The end came quite suddenly on Sunday afternoon, and the frail earthly blossom was transplanted by the Heavenly Father to bloom forever in the Paradise of God.
Mrs. Gienap, of Fort Dodge; Mr. and Mrs. Voss, of Dubuque; Mrs. O. P. Hall, of Sylvian, Wis.; Mis. Savage, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Feller, of Osborne, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Rothlisberge, of Illyria, were those from a distance who attended the funeral. The services were held in the Presbyterian church at Volga, Rev. Pearson conducted the services. Interment was in Hill Crest cemetery. There were flowers in abundance and they were very beautiful.
