Elkader Register & Argus Thur., 20 June 1918. Elkport column.

The remains of Mrs. Lena Soll, widow of a former Elkport citizen, Chas. Soll, who died at Elkader last Friday morning, were brought to the Lutheran cemetery last Sunday afternoon for burial. The funeral services were held at Elkader, Rev. Franke officiating and the funeral was largely attended as Mrs. Soll had a host of friends who mourn her death.

Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 20 June 1918.

Caroline Emelia Frederika Gerhart was born Oct. 07, 1860, and died June 14, 1918, in her home in this city, aged 57 years, 8 months and 7 days. When 7 years of age, she came with her parents to Prairie du Chirn, (Wis.), and two years later they moved to North McGregor. In 1895, she went to Elkport and engaged in the millinery business and in 1900 she was united in marriage with Charles Soll at that place. In 1906 her husband died and soon after she moved to Elkader, which has since been her home.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Edith White, of Chicago, a brother, Fred Gerhart, of California, who have been at her bedside for several weeks, and gave her the most tender and loving care. She was a faithful member of the German church and of the Frauen-Verein and will be sadly missed and mourned by many.

Funeral services were held Sunday in the Evangelical church, conducted by Rev. C. H. Franke, and her remains were taken to Elkport for interment
