Geoege Thomas Laity died Feb. 19, 1918, being 39 years, 4 months and 13 days old. He was born at Forestville, Delaware county, Iowa. The cause of his death was a tumor. His life was lived in and near Strawberry Point until seven years ago when he went to Tulare, S.D., coming home five weeks ago to die. He was married to Anna Louise Sothman on Dec. 26, 1906. The first baby, Gertrude, died in March, 1913. The second child, Gerald Thos., is living, eighteen months old. The deceased had always been of good health until last spring, when he was taken sick in April. He went to the hospital at Minneapolis, Minn., in July; in November to the one in Red Field, S.D., and in December to the one in Mitchell, S.D. No help could be secured. Throughout his illness he never lost his cheerfulness and never feared the end which he knew was certain. He was baptized into the Christian faith the fifth day of this month. There is left to mourn his death his wife, Anna, and a baby boy, Gerald Thomas, the father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Laity of this place, a brother Bert of Canisota, S.D., and a sister, Mrs. Richard Alderson of Strawberry Point and a grandfather, Wm. Goldsborough of Delaware, Ia. Besides these there are a large number of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the M.E. church in Strawberry Point, Friday, Feb. 22, with interment in the local cemetery, Rev. Elton D. Wells, officiating.
