Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 14 Feb. 1918. Strawberry Point column.
Charles Lorain, who for several years has lived alone on a farm four miles south of here, passed away Saturday afternoon. About two weeks ago his coat in some manner caught fire from the cook stove and in a short time his clothing was in flames. Unable to extinguish the fire with water, he ran from the house and rolled in the snow. At first it was thought the burns were not serious, but they later proved fatal. The deceased was a native of Sweden, coming to this country a number of years ago. He leaves a brother, August Lorain. The funeral was held Monday afternoon in the Butterfield school house. Interment took place beside his father and mother in the Forestville cemetery.
