Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 24 Jan. 1918. Monona column.
Hubert A. Kister passed away at his home in our city on Wednesday, January 16th, at the age of 69 years and 1 month. His passing was not unexpected as he had been a semi-invalid for several years. Always an active ambitious man he found his declining years difficult to endure because of his enforced inactivity. With his two sons, Wm. and Albert McKister, he conducted a meat market in Monona for a long term of years, finally retiring to a small farm which adjoined his home on the north side. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife and two sons and two daughters, Mrs. Alice Schrody and Mrs. David Snell, and a number of grandchildren. His was a large acquaintanceship and his friends also were many. The funeral was conducted from the St. Patrick Catholic church by Father Macnamara, on Friday morning. Interment in the Catholic cemetery.
