Clarence August John Haberichter, 85, of Monona, IA, died Thursday, October 21, at his home in Volney surrounded by family.

Clarence was born on November 27, 1935, near Luana, to Vern and Nora (Lenth) Haberichter. He graduated from Monona High School in 1953. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona and was a member of Monona United Methodist Church.

Clarence was united in marriage to Judith Ellen Smith on September 19, 1959, at the Monona Methodist Church. To this union four children were born: Patricia Ann, Pamela Jean, Steven Wayne, and James Allen.

Clarence helped his dad on the family farm and then worked for many years at the Volney Cheese Factory. He then worked at the Waukon Creamery, retiring from Foremost Farms after 40 years of service.

Clarence was a loving husband who, along with Judy, enjoyed raising their children and spending time with their grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, golfing, woodworking, tractor pulls, playing cards, puzzles, and collecting toy tractors.
Clarence will be remembered for his friendly smile and the way he would hold his grandkids’ hands when they said goodbye and say, “You come back again now.” He was the true definition of a family man.

Survivors include his wife Judy; daughters, Patricia (Tim Puetsch) Haberichter of Bernard and Pamela Coenen-Sieg of Luana; sons, Steven (Melissa) Haberichter of Monona and James (Jean) Haberichter of Ankeny; five grandchildren, Alissa (Leigh) Ruff of McGregor; Amanda (Justin) Hansel of Monona; Ashlea (Brian Radloff) Coenen of Monona; Jillian (Brandon) Burke and Lauren Haberichter, all of Monona, and ten great grandchildren: Mayleigh, Makenna, and Ayla Ruff; Scotlyn Coenen, Bodyn and Sloan Hansel; Alivia Coenen-Sautter and Jaxon Holter, and Cash and Miles Burke.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Vern and Nora Haberichter; father and mother-in-law Bill and Anna Smith, brothers Vernis and Harold Haberichter, a sister in infancy, sister-in-law Helen Haberichter, nephew Tom Haberichter; and two sons-in-law, Scott Coenen and Roger Sieg.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 2-6 pm at the United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, Monona, Iowa with a prayer service at 6:00 pm. with Pastor Nathan Ferguson as the Officiant. Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service is helping the family with the arrangements.
