Mrs. Lena Waterman died at her home in Elkport on Monday morning at 10 a.m. after a lingering illness, and was buried on Wednesday afternoon. Services were held at the Lutheran church, of which she was a devout member, and interment was at the Lutheran cemetery beside the grave of her husband who preceded her in death about 12 years. Mrs. Waterman was born in Rochester, N.Y., in the year 1844 and was a good noble woman, a good mother and neighbor. She leaves besides her children, a host of friends who will sadly miss her.
The surviving children are: Mrs. Ike McSperrin, of Elkader, Ia.; Mrs. Louis Kruse, of Guttenberg, Ia.; Mrs. Aug. Schroeder, of Guttenberg, Ia.; Mrs. Grant Lovett, of Berlin, N.D.; Mrs. Arthur Schnepf, of Garber, Ia.;Chas. Waterman and Ed Waterman and the Misses Bertha and Alma, at home.
Mrs. Waterman was also a member of the Frauen Verein, which attended the funeral in a body. The pall-bearers were: Chas. Brandtman, H. F. Mueller, August Lundt, Henry Plagman, Geo. Smith and A.C. Reuschel. The casket was covered with some very beautiful floral pieces. May she rest in peace.
