Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 11 Oct. 1917. Strawberry Point column.
Margaret McDowell Palmer was born at Pittsburg, Pa., Sept. 14, 1845. At the age of five years she came with her parents to Iowa where they settled near Colesburg. Here she grew to womanhood. After her marriage she removed to Cass township and lived for several years on their farm about two and one half miles north of Strawberry Point. On leaving the farm, the family moved into their residence on East Mission street, where Mrs. Palmer continued to live until the time of her death. She was the mother of three children, viz: Mrs. Dell Richards, who preceded her mother in death in 1906; Rhoads Palmer of Denver Colo.; and Miss Rosan, at home, who during her mother's long illness has given her the best of care. There are also five grandchildren, only two of whom were present at the funeral. Mrs. Palmer was never in good health. but since suffering a stroke of paralysis in February, 1914, she has been almost an invalid. During the last four months she was confined to her bed and suffered intensely. Rev. Allen, of Arlington, Presiding Elder of the north Iowa district of the U.B. church, conducted the funeral services at her residence Monday afternoon, Oct. 1st, and she was laid to rest beside her daughter in our beautiful cemetery.
