Patrick Reilly died at his home , Cox Creek Township, Saturday morning, Sept. 22, 1917, infirmities of old age being the immediate cause of his death.
Mr. Reilly was born in Ireland, March 14, 1824, and came to America when thirty years of age, experiencing a trip of five weeks and three days by sailing vessel on sea.
He spent some time in New York and Boston and in the spring of 1865, came west to Clayton county, locating in Cox Creek township, which has since been his home.
Before leaving his native country, he was united in marriage to Bridget Smith and this union was blessed with eight children, seven of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by one son and five grandchildren.
His funeral was held in St. Joseph's church at Elkader, Monday morning at ten o'clock, conducted by Father Casey of Strawberry Point, and he was laid to rest beside his wife who died twelve years ago.
