Elkader Register & Argus, Thur. 13 Sept. 1917.
Miss Mary Sieberts Dead.
After an illness that lasted two weeks, and which developed into tetanus, of lockjaw, Miss Mary Siebertz, of this place, passed away at her home this morning.
Her life had hung in the balance for several days, while she was suffering from this deadly disease, and all that medical skill and nursing could do were used to no avail. She has been living alone for some years, since the death of her parents, her sister, who is her only living near relative, having her home in Seattle, Wash.
Miss Seiberts was born at Garnavillo, Iowa, and died in Elkader, Sept. 13, 1917, aged 56 years, 5 months and 28 days. She was the daughter of the late William and Katherine Siebertz, and is survived by her sister, Mrs. W. _. Prior, of Seattle, Wash.
The funeral will be held from the late residence of the deceased on Friday afternoon at 1:20, Rev. C. H. Franke of the Ev. Frieden's church officiating. Interment will be in the East Side cemetery.
Before Mrs. Prior could reach here, after being notified of the serious illness of her sister, a cousin of the deceased, Will Siebertz, of Garnavillo, was here helping to care for the sufferer.
(Note: Her surname was spelled both ways in the article, as shown.)
