Mrs. Peter Bahr died at her home on Saturday morning at the age of 67 years, 9 months and 28 days. She was born at Hessen, Kassel, Germany, Aug. 5th, 1849, and came to this country at the age of sixteen years, with her parents, two sisters and one brother. After a short stay in Philadelphia she came to Elkport and has made it her home ever since.

She was married on Nov. 5th, 1873, to Peter Bahr and leaves to mourn, besides her husband, one son, John Bahr, of Elkader and six daughters as follows: Misses Mary and Lena, at home; Mrs. Geo. Smith and Mrs. John Wittman, Jr., of Elkport; Miss Anna Bahr, of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Ernie Hauschen, of McGregor; also four grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Chris Stiefel, of Garber, and Mrs. Fred Roggmann, of Garnavillo.

Mrs. Bahr has been in poor health for several months and it was finally found necessary to have an operation performed, which took place a week prior to her death.

She was buried on Tuesday afternoon, June 5th, from the Lutheran church, of which she was a devoted member and the service was attended by a large number of friends and relatives. Rev. W. Paulsen officiated. The pall bearers were selected from members of the Lutheran church as follows: Chas. Brandtman, A. C. Reuschel, Fred Lundt, Henry Plagman, H. F. Mueller and Jon Bals.

The floral offerings were grand and the Misses Elsie and Josie Meyer and Anna and Minnie Lundt acted as flower girls.

The Frauen Verein acted as escort at the funeral, which was attended by all of the members of the Verein, of which deceased was a devoted member.

John Bahr and family, of Elkader; Mrs. John Hauschen and son Victor, of Clayton; Mr. and Mrs. John Roggmann and daughter Lucy and Emelia, of Garnavillo; Mrs. Herman Knoernschild, of Dubuque; Mrs. Everett Smith and brother, Aug. Sherman, of Edgewood, attended the funeral.
