Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 31 May 1917. Strawberry Point columns.
Addie Elizabeth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nat Donahoo, was born near Lamont, Iowa, on Jan. 14, 1898. Her whole life was spent within a short distance of where she was born. Some years the family lived on a farm in Richland township, Delaware county, near the Pleasant Valley School house, where she went to school and also to Sunday school. Here where so much of her life was spent she was not only respected but had a very large circle of warm friends. She was of a happy nature and her manner and pleasant ways drew friends to her and in the home she was dearly loved and her departure is a severe blow to her loved ones. She came to her death suddenly in an auto accident on May 23rd, 1917, at the age of 19 years, 4 months and 11 days. She leaves to mourn for her, her parents, one sister, Mrs. Otis Smith, of Dundee, Ia., and one brother, Earl, at home. Besides there are a large number of more distant relatives and friends., all of whom are grief stricken by her taking away. The funeral services were held by Rev. S. C. Bretnall, of the church in Edgewood, on Saturday afternoon, May 26th, at the home and the body was laid away in the cemetery at Strawberry Point.
(Note: The accident and her death occurred at Strawberry Point, an account of which is in the earlier part of the same column as this obit.)
