Mary Blaha was born in the village of Vo_detz, Kri__ Budwi__, Bohemia, July 7, 1840. She was baptized July 8th and grew to womanhood under the care and nurture of the church. She was married to Jacob Tayek in 1854 and on June 13, 1869, came to the United States, settling on a farm in Giard township. The husband passed away twenty-seven years ago but Mrs. Tayek remained in the old home up to the time of her demise. There were no children but Mr. and Mrs. Tayek adopted a son, Anton Tayek, who survives them. The funeral occurred Monday from St. Patrick's Catholic church, Rev. Father McNamara officiating. The pall bearers were the six sons of Anton Tayek. The burial took place in the Bohemian cemetery. Mrs. Tayek came from a long lived family, her mother lived to be 101 years old and her uncle reached the advanced age of 105 years.
