Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 26 Apr. 1917.

Mrs. Lillian B. Stoops, wife of John W. Stoops, Sr., died at her home in Elkader April 18th, at 10:00 a.m. Her death occurred nine days after an operation for intestinal trouble.

Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Hardy Bagsby and she was born in Elk township, Clayton County, March 16th, 1874, aged 43 years, one month and two days.

On January 20, 1907, she was united in marriage to John Stoops, Sr. To this union was born one son, Howard B., Jan. 20, 1911, who died the day of his birth.

She is survived by a loving and devoted husband, a daughter, two brothers and four sisters.

A year ago last winter she learned to know Jesus as her personal Saviour. From that time on Christ has been a living reality to her. On Easter, April 23rd, 1916, she united with the Elkader Congregational church. She had become active in the work of the church before she became a member and has continued in the activities of the church with a growing love and devotion for the work of the kingdom.

"Go to the grave: at noon from labor cease: rest on thy sheaves thy harvest work is done; come from the heat of toil, and at peace, Pilgrim, go home; with thee thy work is done."
