Elkader Register, Thur., 29 Mar. 1917. McGregor column.
Rev. Charles Peddicord, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church, passed away at his home Saturday morning at 6:30, after an illness of ten days of heart failure and pneumonia. All that medical skill could do was done, but of no avail. He leaves a wife and one daughter, two brothers and three sisters, an aged father, the sisters, father and one brother living in Ohio and one brother living at Waterloo, Iowa. Mr. Peddicord came to McGregor in October, 1916, and has won the respect of the entire community. He was also pastor at North McGregor and Pleasant Ridge, where he was held in highest esteem. The two orders, the I.O.O.F. and the Masons, turned out in bodies to show their last respects to the departed brother. Rev. Mershon, the past elder, officiated, while many other ministers were in attendance. The floral offerings showed the high esteem in which he was held. The remains were taken to Waterloo, Monday night, on No. 8, near the home of the brother. A large number of friends and relatives accompanied the remains. The sudden death of Rev. Peddicord has cast a gloom over the entire city.
