Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 22 Mar. 1917.
Mary Valiria, fourteen-months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Meyer, of Mason City, died at her grandparents' home near Elkader the morning of Saturday, March 17th, after an illness of only two days. She was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Meyer, who have been visiting at his parents' home, Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Meyer, for some time.
Her mother had been sick for a few weeks previous.
The funeral was held Tuesday, Rev. J. F. Reilly officiating, and interment was in St. Joseph's cemetery.
The little one endeared herself to all, and her death was a sad bereavement to her parents, relatives and the friends of the family.
Another little lamb has gone
To dwell with Him who gave;
Another little darling babe
Is sheltered in the grave.
God needed one more angel child
Amidst His shining band,
And so he bent with loving smile,
And clasped our darling's hand.
