Elkader Register & Argus, Thurs., 18 Nov. 1909. Elkport column.

On Monday night at 10:00 o'clock occurred the death of Mrs. Henry Becker, Jr. The deceased has been suffering for some time from that dread disease , consumption. Everything possible had been done to help her, but it seemed of no avail and death was the only relief. She leaves to mourn besides her husband, three small children. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community.

(Note: WPA records indicate Rose Becker, 1881 - 15 Nov. 1909, buried in Sacred Heart cemetery.)
