Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 14 Oct. 1909. Volga column.

Louisa Elinor Blair was born July 8th, 1832, at Madison, N.Y., and died at her home in Volga, Iowa, October 10, 1909. She was united in marriage to Charles S. Blair December 14th, 1856. On May 18th, 1901, Mr. Blair was called to his eternal home. In 1856 they came to Iowa, living near Farmersburg for three years. After this they resided near Elkader at which time they came to Volga in 1877, where her home has been until the time of her death. To this union five children were born, three of whom died in infancy. She leaves to mourn her loss her two daughters, Mrs. Adella Ambrose and Miss Cynthia, and her foster son, Fred Ebendorf. Coming to this country at an early day, she endured a great many of the hardships to which the early settlers were subjected. Being of an energetic character she was not daunted by them, but with a brave heart she helped her husband to overcome them, and to make for themselves a home noted for its kind hospitality. For the past two years her health has been gradually failing until Sunday afternoon she heard the final summons and passed quietly and peacefully to her long home. Of Mrs. Blair it can be truthfully said a faithful wife, a loving mother and a generous friend and helpful neighbor has been taken from among us. Having long ago given her heart to God and trusting her Savior for salvation, we lay her body away, sorrowing for our present loss but looking forward to a happy reunion in the blessed hereafter.
