Schiefelbein, Carolina 1831 - 1909

Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 02 Sept. 1909. Read column.

Mrs. Carolina Schiefelbein, an old and highly respected citizen and early pioneer of this community, died at her home last Thursday morning at the advanced age of 78 years and 6 months. She was born in Pommern, Germany, April 15th, 1831, and came to this country in 1863. She was married to Fred Schiefelbein in 1858. three children were born to them, one of whom, with the father, have preceded her in death. Two children survive, Chas. of Humboldt, S.D., and Albert, of this place, besides four grandchildren, to mourn the loving mother and grandmother. The funeral was held Sunday forenoon, Rev. Burkhardt officiating.
