Elmer Schiff, son of Louis Schiff and wife, was born Jan. 26, 1884, in Giard township, and departed this life June 23, 1909, at Denver, Col., at the age of 25 years, 4 months and 27 days.

He had been sickly for about a year and last winter he went to a sanatarium at Denver. Only a week before his death his folks had encouraging news from him that he was improving in health, when last Wednesday, June 22nd, he sank rapidly and died the next day from tuberculosis. Elmer and his sisters and brothers had planned to surprise their aged father by all coming home and having a family reunion at the 83rd birthday of Mr. L. Schiff. But God meant it far better with, Elmer. All his other brothers and sisters were here when his body came at 11:45 p.m. Sunday night, but his soul was with his two sisters in his eternal home with his heavenly Father.

Elmer was the youngest of ten children, three boys and seven girls of whom two girls had died previously. He was of a quiet, reserved nature and the hope of the aged parents. May God be their staff and comfort in their deep and bitter sorrow, and comfort all with the hope of a happy reunion in heaven.

Interment took place last Monday afternoon, services at the German Evan. church at Prairie by Rev. H. Rabe, then his body was laid to rest in the Giard cemetery.
