Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 15 May 1909. Guttenberg column.

Iva May Friedlein, aged six years, ten months and seventeen days, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Friedlein, passed away suddenly last Friday at the home of Mrs. Eliza Coleman as the result of heart failure. The child had been ailing for several months, having been a sufferer from rheumatism, but her condition at no time was considered alarming. About two weeks before her death the child was brought here from the farm home in Millville township to receive medical attention. Her condition commenced yielding to the treatment and chances for recovery looked favorable when she suffered the attack of heart failure, which instantly ended her life. The funeral was held from the residence of Mrs. Coleman at 1:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon and the little body laid to rest in the City cemetery. Those from abroad who were in attendance were: Mr. and Mrs. John Mohrman, of Sabula; Mrs. Geo. E. White, of Manchester; Mrs. Geo. F. Friedlein and Mrs. Geo. Ehrhardt, of Dubuque. Attorney Chas. E. Scholz spoke briefly at the grave. The funeral was largely attended by friends of the family.
