Henry J. Suddendorf, whose death occurred last Monday was born near Osuabrueck Hanover, Germany, Aug. 21st, 1855. He immigrated with his parents when a small child, to America. They settled in Baltimore, Maryland, where they resided nine years. They came to Clayton county, Iowa, settling on a farm near Clayton Center, where he spent the greater part of his life. In the year 1882, on the 29th of March, he was united in marriage to Miss Margaret Sophia Wilker. To this union were born five children, two sons surviving, two children dying in infancy, and his daughter, Mrs. Rudolph Englehardt, who died two years ago last August. He leaves to mourn his departure his sorrowing wife and sons, George and Arthur, who reside here, one brother and one sister, Mrs. Carpenter, of Owatonna, Minn., and other relatives.
He was a kind husband, an indulgent father, a good neighbor, and esteemed by all who knew him, ever ready to lend a helping hand to all those in need. The funeral services were held at the German church Thursday at 10:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Gadow. Burial in the Clayton Center cemetery.
