Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 25 Feb. 1909. Volga column.
Florence Kate Taylor was born in Chautauqua county, New York, Dec. 1st, 1856, and departed this life Feb. 17th, 1909, aged 52 years, 2 months and 17 days.
Mother is gone, peacefully and painlessly she went to sleep, sweetly as a child, her big kind, loving, motherly heart is stilled, it will never more beat in sympathy for the dear ones she loved, but she is not lost, we will see her again in that happy home beyond the sky where waits a father, son and two grandchildren, all of whom knew and felt her tender love and care.
The deceased was ill for several months, suffering intense pain, and all so uncomplainingly. Every care that loving hands of relatives and friends and medical skill could do, was done, but of no avail, and just as her sun of life passed the meridian on its way to a peaceful sunset, it was eclipsed by the dark hand of death.
We all loved her, and will cherish her memory in our hearts forever and forever.
Florence Taylor was married in August, 1873, to Arden A. Chapman, and of this union three children were born, Mrs. Myra Schramm, Lebanon, Mo., Mrs. Sadie Dow, of Greeley, and Lewis, deceased.
The funeral services were held at the beautiful home in Volga, on Friday morning, conducted by Rev. Dugger, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Greeley cemetery.
She leaves to mourn a husband, mother, Mrs. Wm. Taylor, of Arlington; two brothers and two sisters, Mrs. W. B. Sherman of Cherokee, and Mrs. Frank Torrey, of Arlington.
