Clayton County Register, Thur., 27 Dec. 1934.

Mrs. Christian Meyer (nee Wilhelmina Charlotte Ruskamp) 87 years of age, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Herman Kickbush, in Millville township on Tuesday of last week. Two weeks ago Mrs. Meyer had the misfortune to fall, which resulted in a broken leg, which, with other complications, caused her death.

Mrs. Meyer was born in Hanover, Germany, on January 30, 1847, where she received her early education. In 1865 she came to America, settling in Clayton county, Iowa, and therefore was a pioneer settler of this community. In 1867 she was married to Christian Meyer, who preceded her in death 37 years ago. After their marriage the couple settled on a farm near Buck Creek, where they lived for a time, later going to Millville township, where they lived on a farm and where deceased spent the remainder of her ambitous and true Christian life.

For the past 16 years Mrs. Meyer made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Herman Kickbush, and family, in Millville township.

She is survived by five sons, Fred, Otto, John and Charles, of Guttenberg, and William of Millville township; one daughter, Mrs. Herman Kickbush of Millville township; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. W. J. F. Adix, pastor of the St. John's American Lutheran church of Guttenberg, at the Herman Kickbush home in Millville township last Thursday afternoon, with interment in the Friedlein cemetery in Millville township.
