He died in this home and was buried from St. Patrick's Catholic church Thursday morning, the pastor, the Rev. Father Luke Donlon, read the requiem high mass and officiated in the St. Patrick's Catholic cemetery, where he was buried beside his wife. His pastor praised him highly for his truly Christian character, his great charity, honesty, integrity and fidelity. He exhorted his family to be true to the teachings and examples of their parents.
Mr. Melcher was active and well during his life, which is due to the sensible life he lived. Although past 90 years, he daily attended the week's mission in his church this fall. His example could well be followed by his friends. Mr. Melcher is greatly missed by his two sons.
