Clayton County Register, Thur., 13 Sept. 1934.

CLAYTON: Peter William Beckette was born January 21st, 1847, in England, and passed away at the home of his daughter in Clayton on September 4, 1934, after a long and useful life.

He sailed from Liverpool, England, to America when he was three years old. He was the oldest of four children. The only surviving brother is Samuel S. Beckette, of Clayton; the other brothers passed away several years ago.

He was married to Elizabeth Childers in 1865. Six children were born to this union. Charles passed away four years ago. Anna died in infancy. The surviving children who mourn his passing are: Mrs. Ellen Beaty, Sammy and William Beckette of Clayton, and Mrs. Lizzie Skinner of Glen Haven. Eighteen Great-grandchildren and 20 grandchildren also survive. Funeral services took place at the home of his daughter in Clayton, conducted by Prof. Zeilinger. He was laid to rest in the Clayton cemetery.
