Clayton County Register, Thur., 16 Aug. 1934.
GUTTENBERG: Mrs. William Aulwes, Jr., nee Emma Reinitz, life-long resident of this community, passed away at her home in Guttenberg Saturday morning, at the age of 47 years, 11 months and 13 days, following a long illness.
Mrs. Aulwes was born on a farm in Jefferson township, Clayton county, on August 28, 1886, where she grew to womanhood. On November, 26, 1909, she was married to William Aulwes, Jr. After their marriage the couple settled on a farm in this township. In the spring of 1934 the family came to Guttenberg to reside, where the deceased spent the remainder of her ambitious and true Christian life. Mrs. Aulwes was a kind and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. To know her was to love and respect her. All that loving hands could do and medical knowledge could suggest was done for her to save her life, but all to no avail. During her long illness she was a patient sufferer and had hopes for recovery until the Angel of Death called her to the Great Beyond last Saturday morning. Her untimely death is deeply mourned by her husband, three sons, Raymond, Donald and Lester, of Guttenberg; her aged mother, Mrs. Chas. Reinitz, of Guttenberg; eight brothers, Charles Reinitz of Stordau, Minn., Gustave, Herman, Henry, Rudolph and Theodore Reinitz of Guttenberg, Louis Reinitz of Cedar Falls, and Edward Reinitz of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; one grandchild, and numerous other relatives and friends, who will all sadly miss her. Mrs. Aulwes was one of this community's most worthy mothers, held in high esteem by all who knew her. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. C. A. Jacobi at St. Paul's United Lutheran church in Guttenberg, Tuesday afternoon, with burial in the city cemetery. The funeral was very largely attended by relatives and friends from far and near. The family has the sympathy of all in this community.
