Clayton County Register, Thur., 24 May 1934.

Mrs. Ella Maher, who died in Chicago, Ill., last Sunday, May 20, and who had reached the age of about seventy years, was returned here for burial in St. Joseph's cemetery, where her husband and other members of her family were laid to rest.

Mrs. Maher had been in ill health for some fifteen years and for the last three years had been confined to a Chicago hospital. In Spite of that fact, her death came suddenly and almost unexpectedly.

She was born in this county, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Molumby. She received her early education in this county and later taught in schools of this county. In 1883 she was united in marriage with Daniel Maher, and to this union five children were born, of whom all but one have preceded the mother in death. The children were Blanche, Earl, Pearl, Glen and Loy, the latter her only surviving child. Mr. Maher preceded her in death July 1, 1899.

In 1905 Mrs. Maher moved to Chicago with her children, and her last visit back to the old home-town was in 1928, when she spent some time here recuperating from a severe illness. When she returned to Chicago at that time she appeared to be in fairly good health.

Some of the older readers of the Register will remember that the Mahers built the house now occupied and owned by Fred Wistrick and family on lower Second Street.

In addition to her son Loy, she is survived by two brothers, John Molumby of this place, and Frank Molumby of Waukon, and one sister, Miss Agnes Molumby of Elkader and Dubuque.

Funeral services were held Tuesday forenoon from the Molumby flat to St. Joseph's church, where the Rev. J. P. Taken preached the sermon and the Rev. Father Horsefield of McGregor read the High Requiem Mass. Interment was made in the family lot in St. Joseph's cemetery.

Casket-bearers were Ed. Livingood, D. J. Barton, John Donlon, Ed. Fitzpatrick, Sr., M. J. Hurley and D. J. Raftis.

Mrs. David Molumby, daughter Grace and son Clement, of South Dakota, drove here to be in attendance at the services.
