Larson, Oswald 1898 - 1934

Oswald Larson, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Larson was born March 28, 1898 and baptized April 24, 1898. He was united in marriage to Miss Orpha Larson on December 12, 1923. To this union one son, Laverne, was born. They lived on a farm near St. Olaf for three years and in 1929 they moved on the Jacob Larson farm where they have since made their home. For several years Mr. Larson has been working with the Leas brothers construction company of Monona and he will be missed by them as a faithful servant.

On April 27th he was taken suddenly ill and was taken to the Postville hospital where he submitted to an operation for a ruptured appendix. He seemed to be improving when a change for the worse came, Wednesday evening, May 2, and he died the following morning at 1:30 at the age of 36 years, one month and five days.

He leaves to mourn his departure his widow, one son Laverne, one sister, Mrs. Myron Lindroth, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Larson and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 10:30 a.m. from the Jake Larson home and at 11:00 at the Norway church, the Rev. S. J. Strandjord officiating. The services were attended by a record crowd of friends and relatives. The remains were laid to rest in the Norway cemetery.

Those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Larson's brother, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Larson of Lemars, Iowa, also a brother, Roscoe Larson of Homewood, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Henry Baker, Mr. and Mrs. Christ Larson and son Stanley and Mrs. Nora Edwards, all of Avoca, Wis., Miss Grace Day of Highland, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. John Bailey and son Russell and Mrs. Carrie Clark, all of Britt, Iowa, and Warren Clark of Clear Lake.
