Clayton County Register, Thur., 15 Feb. 1934.

Guttenberg: Mrs. Frank Burr, nee Martha Stoeffler, life long and highly esteemed resident of Guttenberg, died at Mercy hospital, Dubuque, Saturday at noon from injuries she received Wednesday morning of last week, when an automobile in which she was riding skidded on icy pavement, went off the highway, and crashed against a high wire post near the viaduct of the Sageville road at Dubuque, the driver, Verdus Burr, losing control of the machine.

Mrs. Burr's mother, Mrs. Mary Steffler, also of Guttenberg, who was in the automobile when the accident occurred, who was also at Mercy hospital, Dubuque, but is improving, returned to her home at Guttenberg the first of the week.

Mrs. Burr, her mother and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Harry Stoeffler, were occupants of the automobile which was driven by Mrs. Burr's son, Verdus. The party was en-route to Dubuque when about a mile south of Sageville, the car skidded, and going off the pavement crashed against the pole. The three women were taken to Mercy hospital at Dubuque in the city ambulance. At the hospital it was found that Mrs. Burr had received a fracture to her pelvic bone and serious internal injuries. Her mother was found to have had several ribs fractured, while Mrs. Harry Stoeffler and Verdus Burr escaped without serious injuries.

The body of Mrs. Burr was brought from Hoffman mortuary at Dubuque to Guttenberg Saturday evening, and the funeral was held Tuesday morning from the home to St. Mary's Catholic church in Guttenberg. The Rev. Father J. A. Dupont conducted the funeral services. The body was laid to rest in Mt. Olivet cemetery here. The funeral was very largely attended, which showed that the deceased was held in high esteem by all who knew her.

Mrs. Burr was born at Guttenberg May 16, 1884, and lived all of her life there. She is survived by her husband, Frank Burr; her sons, Verdus and Edward, Guttenberg; her mother, Mrs. Mary Stoeffler, Guttenberg; her sisters, Mrs. Frank Fukey, Guttenberg, and Mrs. William Lake, Luxemburg; and her brothers, Harry and Herman Stoeffler, Guttenberg, and Louis Stoeffler, Libby, Montana, and she will be missed by all.

The family has the sympathy of all in this community.
