Mrs. Sarah Jane Borrett died January 16th, 1934, at the age of 80 years, two months and 26 days.

She was born October 27, 1835, at Versailler, Dark county, Ohio, the daughter of William and Rhoda Foote. When she was ten years old she came to Clayton county where she spent the remainder of her life.

Aug. [23 or 28], 1870, she was united in marriage to Alfred Borrett at Elkader Iowa. To this union seven children were born, namely: William, of Turkey River; Mrs. Rose Hansel, George and James, Garber; Mrs. Grace Barnhart, of Colesburg. Two sons, Harry and Lester, preceded the mother in death. One adopted daughter, Mrs. Katie Nieh--- lives at Monona.

She leaves to mourn her death her aged husband, her children, sixteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the home with burial in Mt. Harmony cemetery, Thursday afternoon, the Rev. Mr. Hanson officiating.
