Elkader Register, Thur., 28 Dec. 1905.

At his residence in Boardman township at 8:30 Christmas evening, Dec. 25th, 1905, occurred the death of Peter Kill, an old settler of the county. He had been troubled with asthma for several years, but his death was due to pneumonia, having been sick about a week.

Mr. Kill was born Aug. i, 1837, in Metz, Lorraine, Germany. At the age of 17 years he came to America with his parents and settled at Guttenberg, Ia. One year later they moved to Glen Haven, Wis., where he married Miss Mary J. Zentz, Nov. 18th, 1862. Six children were born to this union, five of whom are living. In 1864 they moved back to Clayton County settling in Read twp. in 1868. In 1869 he purchased the farm in Boardman twp., where he resided at the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife and five children: Mrs. Emma Beach, of Waterville, Minn.; John, of this township; Mrs. Leona Mariska, of Morristown, Minn.; and Cora and Lottie at home. Also two brothers and three sisters: Matthew, at Cedar Rapids, Ia.; and John, at Moline, Kansas; and three sisters: Mrs. Margaret Schlicht, Dysart, Ia.; Mrs. J. Keifer, Nelson, Wis.; and Mrs. G. W. Brown, Omaha, Nebr.

The funeral services were held this afternoon at the Congregational church, Rev. Dunham, of the M.E. church, officiating.
