At the home of his son August in North Guttenberg, Tuesday, August Hamann quietly passed away at the age of 70 years, 5 months and 12 days. Deceased was born in Hanover, Germany, Jan. 1, 1835, and came to this country in 1864, settling in Clayton county on a farm near Guttenberg the same year, and about the same time was married here. Five years ago the twelfth day of this month Mr. Hamann suffered a paralytic stroke and since that time has never left his bed. Surviving him are his son August and two stepsons, William and Louis Beerman. Interment was made Friday in the Dittmer cemetery, Rev. Janzig conducting the funeral services.
