Edward H. Schott, 95, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center. Memorial services with military rites at 1 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where friends may call after noon Thursday. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Beulah; two daughters, Terri Schott of Cedar Rapids and Jan (Steve) Koch of Urbandale; and a brother, James (Todd) of Englewood, Fla. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Jenny (Chris) Reece and Brian Koch; and two great-grandchildren, Graham and Elliot Reece.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Marvin; and two brothers, Elwin and Lloyd Jr.

Ed was born May 3, 1921, in Marquette, Iowa, the son of Lloyd and Rose Powers Schott. He married Beulah L. Dykeman on March 24, 1946, in Ottumwa. Ed did auto body work for Allen Motor Company for over 35 years, retiring in 1986.

Ed was a member of First Lutheran Church and VFW Post No. 788. Ed served in the Navy during World War II both in the Mediterranean Sea and the Pacific. Ed was very patriotic and proud of his military service and in 2014, accompanied by his daughter, Terri, was a member of an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

Ed enjoyed fishing, golf with his grandson and was the family go-to guy who could fix anything.

He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
