Ann is complicated and all of the following should be independently verified. This is what I have found ......
Although she is on census records in Cox Creek twp. from the 1850's thru 1905, enumerated as Ann Nugent, the Death Certificate below gives her surname at death as GUNTHER.
1856 Iowa State census & 1860 U.S. census, James & Ann Nugent are living in Cox Creek twp.
The 1870 census Ann Nugent, widow, age abt 42, is HOH with several children, including twins Thomas and David J. (David John) who have surname Nugent.
The 1885 Iowa State census enumerates Ann Nugent as HOH, divorced, age 59, with Henry Nugent (16), Mary Nugent (20) and twins Thomas & John Gunther, age 16.
She is HOH on the 1900 census, with her son Henry Nugent & daughter Mary Nugent living w/her.
