Elkader Register, Thur., 09 Feb. 1905. North McGregor column.
Mrs. Sarah E. Wheeler was born at Guysboro, N.S., in 1818, and came to the U.S. in 1834, and in 1840 at Lowell, Mass., was united in marriage to W. W. Wheeler. In 1859 they settled in Iowa, living in North McGregor thirty-eight years. She died Feb. 2nd, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sena DeLorimer, at Prairie du Chien (Wis.). The remains were brought here and the services held in the M.E. church Saturday morning, Rev. D. C. Dutton, of Fayette, preaching the sermon. Grandma Wheeler was one of those dear old ladies that, through their kind deeds and loving ways, win their way into ones heart - their memory to be cherished always. Her husband died some sixteen years ago and their remains now lie side by side in Oakland cemetery. Six children were born to them, four of whom are living: W. G. Wheeler, of North McGregor; Mrs. DeLorimer, of Prairie du Chien (Wis.); Mrs. Harvey, of Minneapolis; Mrs. Kelly, of Rockwell.
