Elkader Register, Thur. 30 June 1904. Strawberry Point column.
The death of Mrs. Chas. Chapman occurred at her home Friday morning after several weeks illness. Mrs. Fannie Rogene Chapman was born at Auburn, Fayette county, Iowa, Feb. 8th, 1851. She came to Clayton county early and has always resided here. She leaves a husband and four children to mourn her death. Mrs. Chapman was one whose life was such that she may truthfully be pronounced a noble woman. Her aim was always to do good, to lighten the burden of the afflicted, to cheer and encourage those whose sorrows appeared to bear heavily upon them. In sickness and need she was ever helpful and faithful and her deeds of charity though numerous and bountiful were known only to herself. Funeral services occurred at the home Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. F. A. Dean. Besides her family and relatives she leaves friends to mourn her death. Among those who attended the funeral from abroad were Mrs. Webb and daughter Maud of Elgin, and Sadie Phillips, (Mrs. Chapman's daughter) who has been at Pocahontas.

Note: Rogene is her middle name; she was 1st married to unkn. Phillips
