Elkader Register, Thur., 05 May 1904.
After an illness of over four months Ray Collins passed away Tuesday morning May 3rd, 1904. He was born in Read township, July 8th, 1882, being nearly 22 years of age at his death.
He was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph C. Collins, of this place, who with his two sisters, Mrs. Wm. Roach, of Elkader, and Mrs. D. O. Neil, of Dubuque, survive and mourn his early demise.
Ray was a quiet industrious boy and beloved by all who knew him. He had been educated at the Sister's school and the Elkader High school, and for the past five years had worked with his father as a plasterer.
The funeral service was held this morning at St. Joseph's church, and his remains were taken to the cemetery at Garnavillo for interment. May the departed rest in peace.
