FURGESON

Elkader Register, Thur., 03 Mar. 1904. Guttenberg column.

John Furgeson, a long time resident of Turkey River, died there last week. Furgeson was rather an odd character in some respects; in one way he lived the life of a hermit. He was born and reared in Pennsylvania and in his youthful days became engaged to a young lady. Their wedding day was named, but the evening previous to which the event was to have taken place the lady suddenly died, and since that time Furgeson despised women. At the time of his death he was far advanced in years, which was in the neighborhood of ninety.
