Elkader Register, Thur., 11 Feb. 1904. Strawberry Point column.

The death of Mrs. Carl Imalu occurred at her home last Thursday morning. Reports say she retired as usual Wednesday evening and between two and three o'clock she awakened her husband telling him she was not feeling well and requested him to light a lamp, but before he had done so life was gone. Death at all times is sad, but when it happens in a case like this it seems more sad. Funeral services were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Skibbe Saturday, after which the remains were brought to the Lutheran church, Rev. Graf officiating. The remains were laid to rest in our cemetery. Friends extend to the husband and four children their heartfelt sympathy. Mrs. Imalu was a good and kind mother and neighbor, one whom was a friend to everybody and liked by all. Her good deeds and acts will ever remain.

(Note: Transcribed as published. WPA records show Caroline Imlan, 1831 - 04 Feb. 1904, buried in Strawberry Point cemetery.)
