Elkader Register, Thur., 20 Nov. 1902. Garnavillo column. From the Dubuque Times, undated.

From the Dubuque Times we clip the following regarding the death of Sybil O'Meara whose funeral was held in St. Joseph's church Friday. Miss Sybil M. O'Meara died Thursday morning at 1:45 o'clock at Mercy Hospital, where she had been the past week. Although born and reared in Dubuque she was a resident of Guttenberg previous to her death. She was 32 years of age. Deceased was born in Dubuque in 1870 and spent the early part of her life in this city. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence O'Meara, the former of whom was a merchant here twenty-two years ago. Later, with his family, he moved to Guttenberg and has resided there since. About five years ago Miss Sybil left Guttenberg for St. Louis, where she was engaged as a private secretary up to the time of her illness a month ago. She came home to rest, but instead of improving she became worse and a week ago was brought to Mercy Hospital for treatment. She grew weaker and weaker and Thursday morning passed away surrounded by members of the family. Deceased was a woman well known in Dubuque. She was kind and devoted and on account of her pleasant disposition had hundreds of friends who regret her death. She was a life-long Catholic and died fortified by the last rites of the church. The remains have been removed to the residence of Mr. O'Connor on Jones street. They will be shipped to Garnavillo this morning for interment. Deceased is survived by her father, one sister, Mrs. Edward Kuempel, of Guttenberg, and two brothers, Thomas and Clement.
