Elkader Register, Thur., 06 Nov. 1902. Local News columns. From the Cresco Plaindealer, undated.
M. J. Malanaphy, who left Cresco on Sunday last with a car load of stock for Chicago, fell from the cars at North McGregor and was injured so that he died a short time thereafter and his body was brought home on the noon train Monday. It seems from reports that his train was starting as he came out from supper and that he climbed onto the cars and was walking on top of the train toward the caboose when he fell and was run over with the result stated above. He was an upright man in all his dealings and was respected by all who knew him. He leaves a wife and children to mourn his untimely death.- Plaindealer.
