Elkader Register, Thur., 11 Sept. 1902.
After a short illness, at 5 o'clock Sunday morning, Sept. __, 1902, Mrs. James Rogers passed away from this life. Ann Cronan was born in county Cork, Ireland, in 1830. That year she came to America with her parents, landing in Quebec, and later came to Cincinnati where she grew to womanhood. In 1874 she was united in marriage with James Rogers, and has lived in Elkader since that time. Mr. Rogers died Feb. 26th, 18_7 (looks like 1887 or 1897), leaving her alone. No children surviving them. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Martin Flanagan, of this place, and several nieces, two of whom reside in this county, Mrs. Kate Maley, of Elkader, and Mrs. Josie Wiley, of Edgewood. Deceased was a kind and obliging neighbor, a devoted follower of her church and with relatives named leaves a host of friends to mourn her departure.
The funeral was held Tuesday morning from St. Joseph's church being attended by a large number of sorrowing friends.
