Kohler, Innick Sr. 1809 - 1902

Innick Kohler Sr., a resident of Guttenberg for many years, died at his home last Friday. The cause of death was attributed to old age, being at the time of his death 92 years, 6 months and 21 days old. Mr. Kohler was born in Bielarm, Rein, Germany, Nov. 15th, 1809, where he remained until 25 years of age. In the spring of 1834 he sailed for America, arriving in this country June 2nd, of the same year, and came to Clayton county the following year, and since that time has made Guttenberg his home. A wife, three sons and three daughters are left. The body was laid to rest in the City cemetery. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Fr. Sommerlad, Lutheran minister of Garnavillo.
